Tour of Woodlawn Cemetery – Crown Hill Section
Meet at the flagpole inside the main entrance

Cemeteries are more than just places where we are buried after we die–they are places of reflection, history, and family connection.

Founded in 1905, Woodlawn Cemetery is the final resting place of many of Sioux Falls’s most prominent citizens.  During this guided walking tour of the Crown Hill section, Kevin Gansz, Curator of Education for the Siouxland Heritage Museums, will share the fascinating stories of individuals whose names continue to shape the history of Sioux Falls today.

Parking & Meeting Location

The main entrance to Woodlawn Cemetery is located at 26th Street and 7th Avenue. Please drive into the cemetery and park along one of the roads.  Then make your way to the flagpole where the tour will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Please note that the cemetery gates close at 8:00 p.m., so everyone must exit the grounds by that time.

What to Bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes (we will leave paved roads during the tour)
  • Water, as the weather may still be warm

Guests Welcome

Non-members are welcome to attend! A $5 cash contribution for non-members may be paid to Kim McKeon before the tour begins.  There is no charge for current SVGS members.

We look forward to seeing you for an enjoyable evening of local history, genealogy, and storytelling!
